Princess Anne is back home after hospital stay for “horse incident”

British Princess Anne is on the road to recovery.

The 73-year-old royal, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the younger sister of King Charles III, returned to her home in southwest England on Friday, the Associated Press reported. Anne is expected to make a full recovery in the next few days after being hospitalized for a concussion.

In a statement released to several media outlets on Friday, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence thanked the medical team that had cared for his wife.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to the entire team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay,” he said.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday that Anne, known as the Princess Royal, “suffered minor injuries and concussion following an incident” at her Gatcombe Park estate in southwest England. She has been taken to hospital “as a precautionary measure for observation,” the palace said.

The palace did not release any details of Anne’s “incident,” although she was reportedly within the cordoned-off grounds of her Gloucestershire estate when the incident occurred, according to the British Press Association. Emergency services were called to Anne’s estate, where she was treated before being taken to hospital accompanied by her husband.

Details of the incident are still under wraps, but doctors said Friday that Anne’s injuries were consistent with an impact with a horse’s head or legs, AP reported.
