Five suspects arrested after shooting at Metro police and evaded arrest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) – A dangerous night for Metro Police ended with gunfire, a wild chase across county lines and the setting of nail barriers to catch suspects.

Metro Police report that officers were conducting surveillance on Howertown Street at 11 p.m. when someone began shooting at them and drove away. Police photos showed at least 20 shell casings on the ground.

A Metro Police helicopter tracked them as they made their way down I-40, and then they requested assistance from Mount Juliet police. Mt. Juliet deployed spikes as the suspects exited I-40 onto the Golden Bear Gateway, causing their car to stop on Volunteer Blvd.

All five suspects ran into the nearby woods but were caught within an hour. Police told us all five suspects are from Nashville and are now being held in the Davidson County Jail. None of the officers were injured in the shooting.

The arrest was made thanks to the cooperation of officers from Mt. Juliet, Wilson County, Metro-Nashville, THP and Lebanon.
