Crash involving two cars and a Fresno police cruiser sparks investigation | YourCentralValley.com

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – An accident involving an officer and two other vehicles is under investigation after the officer was en route to conduct a welfare check in Fresno, Fresno police said.

According to police, an officer was on the road with his lights and siren on because he was responding to a 911 call to check on the welfare of a possibly injured person. While traveling west on Bullard Avenue past Cedar Avenue, the officer slowed to clear traffic. When the road was safe, he continued driving.

According to police, he was then struck by another car traveling north on Cedar Avenue. The collision caused the patrol car to be thrown into another stationary vehicle.

According to investigators, no major injuries were reported by anyone involved other than complaints of pain.

This is an ongoing investigation.
