Ithaca man arrested after drug search

ITHACA, NY (WETM) – An Ithaca man was arrested on drug charges after members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Response Team executed a search warrant on him last week.

According to Ithaca police, Omar J. Punter, 41, was arrested on June 20 for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, following a search warrant ordered by police for weapons and drug trafficking.

A home on Cypress Court and another in the 400 block of North Geneva Street were also searched in connection with the arrest warrant.

According to police, Punter was found at Cypress Court in Ithaca at the time of the search. At the time of the search, Punter was found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine.

Punter was subsequently arraigned and tried in the Tompkins County CAP Court and subsequently returned to the Tompkins County Jail where he was held without bail.
