20-year-old Temple University student killed in domestic violence incident; man in custody: officials

NORTH PHILADELPHIA – An incident of domestic violence tragically turns into a murder investigation and a 22-year-old man must face the charges.

Police responded to a 911 call about a medical emergency in the 1400 block of Willington Street in North Philadelphia around 4 a.m. Saturday morning, officials said.

On the second floor of a residential building, officers found a 20-year-old woman who was unconscious. She was obviously suffering from blunt force injuries.

The paramedics confirmed her death on the spot.

Authorities said a 22-year-old man was arrested and charged. The investigation revealed that the murder was related to an incident of domestic violence.

The identity of the young woman was not disclosed until her relatives were notified, but representatives from Temple University confirmed that the young woman was a student.
