Oklahoma man arrested after fatal stabbing in McDonald County

MCDONALD COUNTY, Missouri – An Oklahoma man was arrested overnight on Saturday, June 22, in connection with a fatal stabbing attack at a vacation property in Noel, Missouri.

The McDonald County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) reports that 32-year-old Garrett Sumter of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, is being charged by the McDonald County District Attorney with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.


According to MCSO, a group of friends were at a vacation property in the Minnow Springs area of ​​Noel when the stabbing occurred.

Sumter fled the scene after the stabbing, which prompted an investigation and search by MCSO officers, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and Noel Police. An MSHP trooper found Sumter near the scene and took her into custody.

Sumter is currently being held without bail in the McDonald County Jail.

Authorities are not releasing the victim’s identity at this time so that the family can notify all relatives.
