BPD: Teenager arrested after collision between stolen vehicle and two police cars

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) — A Chautauqua County teenager was arrested Wednesday after allegedly colliding with two Buffalo police vehicles while fleeing in a stolen vehicle, Buffalo police said.

At around 7:45 p.m., police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Donovan Drive. As officers approached, the vehicle allegedly backed into a police vehicle and then drove forward into another before fleeing the scene, according to the BPD. The incident prompted an officer to jump out of the vehicle’s path to avoid being struck.

The allegedly stolen vehicle was pursued by an Erie County Sheriff’s helicopter and eventually stopped before the driver fled on foot, police said. Theophine Lubala, 18, of Cassadaga, was arrested in the 400 block of Cambridge Avenue.

Lubala was charged with:

  • Two counts of third-degree criminal damage
  • One count of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree
  • A case of second degree reckless endangerment
  • A case of unauthorized use of a vehicle
  • A case of driving a motor vehicle by a driver without a license
  • One count of leaving the scene of an accident
