2 dead in accident caused by reckless driving in Milwaukee

Milwaukee police are investigating a crash that left two people dead early Friday morning. Police responded to the intersection of 27th and Center streets near Fond du Lac Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Officers say the 23-year-old driver of a black Kia was speeding when they lost control and collided with a traffic pole. The driver and his 22-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. On Friday morning, family identified the victims as Willie Moton, 23, and Linda Scott, 22. Relatives say the two had been best friends since high school. Linda’s grandmother Janet Scott told 12 News the two were at the Potawatomi Casino late Thursday night before going to a bar. “They were like two peas in a pod, they were like sister and brother, you see one, you see the other,” Janet Scott said. Scott says Linda was the mother of a two-year-old son. She was a caregiver born and raised in Milwaukee. Moton’s family says he worked as a healthcare technician at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s. He is described as a fun, outgoing and caring person. The accident occurred 24 hours after three people were killed in a high-speed crash near 50th Street and Oklahoma Avenue in Milwaukee on Thursday. Milwaukee police are investigating an accident that killed two people early Friday morning.

Police responded to the intersection of 27th Street and Center Street near Fond du Lac Avenue at around 2:45 a.m.

According to officials, the 23-year-old driver of a black Kia was driving too fast, lost control and collided with a traffic pole.

The driver and his 22-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

On Friday morning, the family identified the victims as Willie Moton (23) and Linda Scott (22).

Relatives say the two have been best friends since high school.

Linda’s grandmother, Janet Scott, told 12 News that the two were at the Potawatomi Casino late Thursday night before heading out to a bar.

“They were like two peas in a pod, they were like sister and brother, you know when you see one you see the other,” said Janet Scott.

Scott says Linda was the mother of a two-year-old son. She was born and raised in Milwaukee and worked as a home health aide.

Moton’s family says he worked as a health technician at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s. He is described as a fun, outgoing and caring person.

The accident occurred 24 hours after three people were killed in a high-speed crash near 50th Street and Oklahoma Avenue in Milwaukee on Thursday.
