Rainsville police face standoff and theft investigation | News

According to Rainsville Deputy Police Chief Matt Crum, the DeKalb County Special Response Team was called in after conducting a welfare check and found a woman barricaded in her home and threatening officers and herself with a firearm.

Officers went to an address on Lee Avenue at approximately 5:23 p.m. to check on the woman’s welfare. When they found the woman making threats, SRT was called and Rainsville Police attempted to speak with her for nearly two hours to get her to peacefully exit her home. Tear gas was deployed inside the home and SRT officers came close to entering the home and removing the woman unharmed.

Rainsville Police Chief Michael Edmondson wants to inform the public that there is no threat to the community, the police department said in a press release.

Edmondson also wanted to thank the Sheriff’s Office SRT for their quick response and willingness to risk their lives to assist the Rainsville Police Department.

Last Wednesday, Rainsville officers were called to a local business for a report of a theft. When officers arrived at the scene, they received a police report in which they received video and photo evidence of the person accused of the theft.

Since the police had already dealt with the person before, they were able to identify the suspect.

Amanda Bundrum Parrish was arrested Thursday for fourth-degree theft. She was held on $500 bail.

“I don’t care if you take a $3 item or a $30,000 item from a store in Rainsville, you will

Accused,” said Edmondson. “Our local businesses are the lifeblood of our community, and they

work so hard to provide for our community and their families.”

Rainsville Police ask the public to always report theft as soon as possible.

They see it because it helps the police find the right evidence for a prosecution.
