Migrant accused of raping 13-year-old admits he filmed the attack

The Ecuadorian migrant accused of raping a 13-year-old admitted to filming the incident during a court hearing in Queens, New York, the New York Post reported.

Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, has been charged with multiple counts, including rape and kidnapping, following an assault on a 13-year-old girl in Kissena Park. The incident, which occurred on June 13, came to light during the hearing where Inga-Landi’s videotaped confession was presented. He said he recorded the assault after initially becoming nervous, according to the New York Post.

“I was nervous at first, but then I relaxed and took it in,” Inga-Landi admitted in the videotaped statement, the outlet reported.

Inga-Landi remained silent and dejected as prosecutors detailed the charges against him. According to Assistant District Attorney Kasey Esposito, according to the New York Post, Inga-Landi encountered two teenagers in the park and allegedly escalated an attack with a machete-like knife. He is said to have tied the victims up with a shoelace, gagged the girl, and then raped her. After the attack, he is said to have stolen and discarded their phones before buying drugs.

“After that, I went out to buy drugs,” he said, according to the outlet.

Migrants from countries including Turkey, Jordan, Guatemala, Nicaragua, China and India began making their way to the United States on foot today, where they were met by Customs and Border Protection agents for processing. The United States will temporarily close its border with Mexico to asylum seekers starting today, June 5, as President Joe Biden seeks to offset his political weakness on the migration issue ahead of the November election campaign with Donald Trump. The case has attracted attention due to the heinous nature of the crime and Inga-Landi’s background, including a previous order from an immigration judge in 2022 to leave the U.S. after he was deemed an inadmissible alien. His history and the violent nature of the crime led Judge Joanne B. Watters to hold him in custody without bail because he poses a flight risk, the outlet reported. DNA evidence linking Inga-Landi to the crime scene was crucial to the investigation. According to the New York Post, it matched a sample he provided to immigration authorities in 2021. Additional information from the teenage victims, including a description of a distinctive boar tattoo and braces, played a crucial role in his identification and subsequent arrest by local residents, ending a five-day manhunt.
