One dead in traffic accident in LaSalle County after fleeing traffic control

The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office said one of its officers was involved in an attempted traffic stop that resulted in a fatal crash early Monday morning. It happened just before 7 a.m.

According to police, the deputy spotted a vehicle stolen in LaSalle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and later crashed. The driver, the only occupant, was ejected from the vehicle. Deputies administered first aid, but the driver was pronounced dead.

At the request of the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois State Police are taking over the investigation.
