The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker picked up his spring offer from Houston on March 28. During that span, as well as this weekend’s official visit, the Cougars were the favorites.

“Houston has something great in the works right now and I want to be a part of it and play some good football! And to me, that’s what Houston is.”

McFarland pointed to the program’s growth and location as the main reasons he should be in Houston.

“The coaching staff really reassured me about how many opportunities life in Houston offers and how it prepares you for life.”

During the visit, McFarland was one of several players who were already committed or had Houston among their top suitors.

“There were a bunch of other committed recruits that I became pretty close to because of the shared excitement of all playing Big 12 football together in the best city!”
