New look: Forge townhouses

After being tabled by the planning committee in April, the project team behind 22 townhouses north of The Forge on Broadway is back tomorrow after some design changes. The planning committee approved the subdivision of the site necessary for the project, but wanted changes to the color and main entrance.

SAA | EVI has 22 townhomes for sale, including two six-unit buildings along Mortimer Street and two five-unit buildings along Sycamore Street. Each residence will feature three bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and parking in the rear driveway.

The planning board requested additional colors and new materials for the townhouses, suggesting the original proposal was too similar to The Forge apartment building. The new color palette adds additional soft colors including a darker blue, less corrugated metal, and railings on the front porches to accentuate the depth of the porch and delineate the public from the private space.

The Forge’s 158 apartments opened in 2020. Silvestri Architects designed the apartments and proposed townhouses.
