A fatal crash is prompting road closures on Highway 211, deputies say

BCSO responded to a fatal crash that closed the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 211 on the far west side of the city.

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office issued a traffic alert Monday afternoon following a fatal crash on Highway 211.

The north and southbound lanes were closed. According to BCSO, northbound traffic was detoured near Mansion Bluff, while traffic on Highway 90 was diverted onto the access road.

The accident caused traffic delays and road closures and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

According to an update from BCSO, the accident occurred when a vehicle failed to stop at an intersection while traveling westbound in the northbound and southbound lanes of HWY 211, crossing the path of an 18-wheeler traveling northbound drove.

The 18-wheeler and vehicle collided, and the driver of the vehicle was ejected and sustained serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
