Months-long investigations into dozens of car and off-road vehicle thefts

ACADIA PARISH, Louisiana – After a months-long theft investigation, several people have been arrested.

Over the past eight months, the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office has investigated a large number of thefts of vehicles, ATVs, and all-terrain vehicles within the parish. These crimes occurred in various parts of the parish, with a large number of these thefts occurring in the northeast part of the parish.

“We believe some of these people are working together, and we also believe some of them were working independently of the others,” Sheriff KP Gibson said.

During this time, a total of 52 vehicles, quads and all-terrain vehicles were stolen, of which 40 were recovered. Officers arrested eight people involved in various thefts and obtained arrest warrants for six others.

“We have increased our staffing levels in the areas of these crimes as well as the areas of auto break-ins within the community. We would like to remind our residents to secure their vehicles and remove valuables from them. Regarding thefts of cars, ATVs and four-wheelers, we are asking residents to secure these types of vehicles and remove the keys from them. Thieves are looking for opportunities and if we make it easy for them, they will continue their crime spree. Please help us and remove the keys from your vehicles yourself,” stated Sheriff Gibson.
