Man who raped and impregnated 13-year-old girl in Delhi detained at India-Nepal border

New Delhi: A 20-year-old man was arrested near the India-Nepal border for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old girl in Delhi last September, police said. According to the authorities, the accused allegedly attacked the minor several times last year before fleeing to Nepal. He was then lured back to India under the pretext of a job opportunity, the report added.

Police claimed the minor, who is currently in her third trimester of pregnancy, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after she fell ill on May 1. Doctors discovered she was pregnant and contacted the police, who then informed the court and the Child Welfare Community (CWC). . Police said the pregnancy cannot be terminated and the CWC is counseling the teenager.

They said the accused met the minor’s father, who helped him set up a stall in the Cantonment area last September.

“According to our information, the accused raped the minor several times. After a month or two he left Delhi. The minor also did not tell her parents out of fear… The statement of the teenager and the mother was recorded “The minor could not provide any details about the accused other than his name. We found out that he was living in Faridabad but had left his residence,” the deputy superintendent of police said.

The exact date of the incident is not known as the teenager cannot remember it, the DCP added.

Through informants, the police learned that he had moved to Nepal and was staying with his family there. Senior officials then sent a team to the border and contacted the defendant’s friends and family by telephone.

A case of rape has been registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
