$5,000 reward offered for finding man who beat and sexually assaulted 91-year-old woman in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, Florida. – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man who broke into the home of a 91-year-old woman, beat her and sexually assaulted her, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The attack occurred around midnight Sunday in Reddick. The sheriff’s office posted a Facebook post Friday morning offering a reward for information.

“To live on earth in peace and quiet for so long and to have lived here for so long. It’s shocking, shocking to the whole community,” said Lt. Paul Bloom.

Officials said the woman woke up and saw the man “sneaking through her house” and then beat and sexually assaulted her.

“While my investigators continue to work tirelessly to identify this individual and process the evidence, we must work together to protect our most vulnerable citizens. If you know someone who lives alone, make sure their doors are locked, help them install security cameras, and check on them,” sheriff’s officials wrote Monday.
