The Houston Show Choir, founded under another name by the city of Houston in 1932, is still active today. The group is made up of 80 singers, who perform choreography with each song and are entirely volunteer, with volunteers ranging in age from 20 years old to one member in their 60s.

The Show Choir performs full concerts twice a year, including tonight, June 13, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at Wortham’s Cullen Theater with a full band. Iterations of the set also perform downtown and at other public venues, nursing homes and other guest venues.

In the audio above, Van English, executive director of the Houston Show Choir, tells Houston Matters host Craig Cohen more about the group.
