Paedophile caught after brave schoolgirl shared her ordeal on TikTok – beast convicted of abusing string of young victims

A paedophile who raped and abused a series of victims was caught after a young girl made a TikTok video about her ordeal.

Michael Conway, who was convicted of 14 of 16 serious sex crimes, now faces a severe prison sentence for these historic crimes.

He was caught after a 10-year-old girl he abused in 2021 filmed what he did to her and posted it on TikTok, a court heard.

An adult woman who was repeatedly raped by Conway over several years said she had to pay him two pounds every day to stop him from harassing her.

He often attacked her while she was sleeping and unable to consent.

The jury returned a majority verdict and found 66-year-old Conway guilty of two counts of rape of the woman – whose name cannot be disclosed for legal reasons – as well as of indecently touching the woman and another adult woman.

They also issued unanimous verdicts, finding Conway guilty of sexually abusing six young girls.

He was found guilty of one count of repeated rape of a child between the ages of six and ten, five counts of sexual abuse, three counts of indecent touching and two counts of sexual assault, all against underage girls.

The offences were all committed at addresses in Livingston, West Lothian, over a 25-year period between 1977 and January 2021
Conway’s child victims testified that he manipulated them with candy and gifts and then inappropriately touched and sexually abused them.

A girl he began abusing at the age of four told how he repeatedly raped her from the age of six to ten.

Another recalled him tickling her feet to make her giggle when she was about ten years old, before his behavior progressed to something more sinister.

She said the abuse continued until she was 16.

Another young victim said she knew Conway, liked him and initially trusted him before he abused her.

Another student revealed that Conway “wouldn’t take no for an answer” when she tried to push him away.

Another girl later posted a video on TikTok describing what he had done to her.

The jury heard that two of the teenagers had previously reported Conway’s abuse to police, but no action was taken because he denied the allegations.

However, the TikTok incident in January 2021 proved to be his downfall.

He showed no emotion as the jury firmly rejected his charges and found him guilty of 14 of 16 sexual offenses.

He was acquitted of rape and indecent assault after the jury found the charges “not proven.”

Judge Wilhelm Gallacher threatened Conway with a heavy prison sentence and remanded him in custody pending a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on July 17.
