Craftsman admits sexual encounter with 16-year-old girl he knew was 16, Joliet police say

JOLIET, Illinois – An Aurora man faces charges for sexually abusing a girl he knew was a minor.

According to Joliet police, officers were alerted on May 7 to allegations of sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl. The incident occurred on April 25 at a home on Silver Ridge Drive.


To protect the identity of the victim, WGN does not disclose the ban.

According to police, the victim’s parent hired 47-year-old Jose Velazquez-Flores to do repairs on the house.

After interviewing the victim, investigators believed Velazquez-Flores had inappropriate sexual contact with the victim, but police did not elaborate.

After Velazquez-Flores voluntarily came to the police station for questioning on Tuesday, June 11, police said he admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the underage victim, who he knew was 16 years old.

Officers arrested him and charged him with aggravated sexual abuse.

Police did not provide any further details.
