Incident of sexual assault reported at Disney World, arrest made

A 68-year-old man was extradited to the Orange County Jail for arrest and charged with multiple felony counts related to sexual abuse that allegedly occurred during numerous vacations at the Walt Disney World Resort. The victim, now an adult, was younger than 12 years old at the time of the abuse.

Accordingly FOX35 OrlandoMichael Geary of Arlington, Virginia, was arrested on a warrant and transported to Central Florida in February. He was charged with several crimes, including sexual battery of a child under 12 and lewd or lascivious molestation.

The victim, now 32, came forward to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office on January 2, 2024, saying that Geary abused her “more times than she could count” between the ages of 10 and 12. She claimed the assaults occurred “multiple times” at her Virginia home and during vacations at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

The incidents in Central Florida reportedly occurred between 2001 and 2003 at an unspecified Disney resort hotel, Disney’s Old Key West Resort and the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando. The victim was between 10 and 12 years old at the time, while Geary was about 47 years old.

Investigators and the victim conducted two recorded phone conversations with Geary in which he allegedly admitted to doing something he called “hugging.” He allegedly denied remembering any specific incidents, but confirmed that the victim was “not a liar” and that she was “the only child he ever interacted with or had sexual contact with.”

According to the affidavit, Geary later insisted he did not remember the incidents described in the phone call. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department only files charges for specific assaults that occurred in central Florida, not at the victim’s home in Virginia.

Geary is scheduled to appear in court on July 10. His attorneys have not publicly stated how he would respond to the charges. If convicted, Geary could face the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.
