27-year-old man shot dead in south Seattle, no arrests made so far

According to Seattle police, a 27-year-old man was shot and killed in south Seattle early Sunday morning.

Police said officers responded at 3:48 a.m. to a report that a person had been shot in the 1000 block of Occidental Avenue South.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a 27-year-old man with a “single gunshot wound to the chest.” Seattle Fire Department arrived shortly afterward and pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.

Police said a handgun was seized as evidence. Officers cordoned off the area until homicide and crime scene detectives arrived and examined the scene, according to Seattle police.

No arrests have been made so far.

The exact circumstances of this shooting are currently under investigation. The Homicide Squad has taken over the lead on this case.
