Child and two adults die on railroad bridge in Virginia when they are hit by a train

According to police, a child and two adults were killed when they were hit by a train on a railroad bridge in northern Virginia

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia – A child and two adults were killed Wednesday night when they were struck by a train on a railroad bridge in northern Virginia.

According to preliminary investigations by Fairfax County Police, the three were traveling on the elevated railroad tracks near Accotink Park Road in Springfield when they were hit.

Police were called to the scene at around 8:30 p.m. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The tracks are located next to a lake and a park with hiking trails and other amenities. The railroad bridge carries the tracks over Accotink Creek.

The police said that their investigations were still ongoing. The identity of the dead woman and her family relationship could not be disclosed at this time.
