Topeka man arrested after discovery of stolen vehicle and felon weapons violation in Shawnee County

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – A Topeka man was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections after a stolen vehicle was discovered and a felon committed a serious weapons offense in Shawnee County.

According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, June 4, at approximately 1 p.m., a deputy found a gold 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the 2300 block SW Van Buren St. The vehicle was reported stolen in the city of Topeka. During the investigation, an illegally sawed-off shotgun was found.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office announced that 39-year-old Michael FE Dorsch of Topeka was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges of being a felon in violation of the firearms law and criminal use of a weapon.

The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office said the incident is still under investigation.
