4 dead in car crash in Nevada

ELY, Nevada. — Four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Nevada last week, according to Nevada State Police.

The accident occurred at 10:54 a.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 6 near mile marker 31 in White Pine County, seven miles west of Ely.

According to the police investigation, a pickup truck pulling a travel trailer was traveling east on Highway 6. A motor home pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling west on the highway. The driver of the pickup truck attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle and struck the front of the motor home in the westbound lane.

According to a press release from the NSP, the truck attempted to overtake in a no-overtaking zone. Both vehicles came to a stop in the westbound lane and on the shoulder.

When rescue workers arrived on the scene, both vehicles were already fully ablaze, the press release states.

All four victims succumbed to the injuries they sustained in the accident at the scene.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
