Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run accident identified

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) – A man killed in a hit-and-run crash in Balboa Park last month has been identified, authorities said.


The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office named Darren Stevenson, 54, as the victim in the April 3 collision at the intersection of B St. and Pershing Drive.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Stevenson and a woman were walking west on the westbound Pershing Drive bike lane at B St. when an unknown driver, traveling west on the westbound Pershing Drive bike lane, reportedly hit the Bike path strayed and Stevenson drove into San Diego police. The driver left the scene after the accident.

The victim was taken to a hospital with a collapsed lung, a fractured skull, a laceration to his lower lip and other injuries, police said. Stevenson’s condition did not improve and he later died on April 28.
