After meeting with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Philippines will participate in the Swiss-organized global peace summit on the war in Ukraine later this month.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelensky said that after a bilateral meeting with Marcos in Malacañang, the topics discussed included the World Peace Summit and the importance of Southeast Asian countries’ participation there.

The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the suspension of Alice Guo as mayor of Bamban town in Tarlac.

In a May 31 order, Ombudsman Samuel Martires said there were “sufficient grounds for precautionary suspension” of Guo and two other city officials “as there is strong evidence of their guilt.”

Chinese woman Lin Wen Yi, believed to be the mother of Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, left the country in May and has not returned, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said on Monday.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Gatchalian said his sources at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) confirmed the matter. Alongside Lin is the father of the local chief executive – Jian Zhong Guo.

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero believes the anti-discrimination bill has a better chance of gaining Senate approval than the proposed SOGIESC equality bill.

SOGIESC stands for sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics.

The oil companies announced a sharp price adjustment of up to 90 cents per liter in local pump prices, effective Tuesday, June 4.

According to industry representatives, the price of gasoline will fall by 90 cents per liter.
