CBIT investigation into Motel 6 incident progresses

EPHRATA – The Central Basin Investigation Team is continuing its investigation into the May 4 shooting involving police officers at the Motel 6 in Moses Lake that left suspect Zachary Allen Stockton, 37, and Sergeant Adam Munro of the Moses Lake PD injured, according to a statement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

None of the injuries were life-threatening. In Washington, any use of force by police officers that results in injury to a suspect must be investigated by an outside agency, and the public receives weekly updates on the case.

Currently, the GCSO statement says investigators are finalizing their case reports for review by the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office, and evidence exists that Munro’s injuries were caused by Stockton while Munro was responding to a call at the Motel 6 in Moses Lake, 2822 W. Driggs Drive.

As of Saturday, Stockton was still on the Grant County Jail inmate list and was being held in maximum security prisons.

Munro underwent surgery after being shot in the foot during the incident and is currently recovering. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran, a marksmanship instructor and former regional SWAT team member who has been with the MLPD for 14 years.
