Teenager killed in car crash in Cherokee County on Saturday

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 15-year-old girl died after an accident in Cherokee County on Saturday.

The crash occurred on North 561 Road near Tahlequah. The driver, an 18-year-old, failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle rolled an unknown number of times, according to OHP. Troopers say speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Two of the six occupants of the car were not wearing seat belts, including the girl who was killed. OHP says she was thrown from the vehicle.

The 15-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital where her injuries were pronounced dead, OHP said.
