Two train drivers injured in freight train collision in Punjab

Two train drivers were injured on the morning of June 2 when a stationary goods train was rammed from behind by another at Sirhind railway station in Fatehgarh Sahib, a state railway police official said.

He said the collision caused the locomotive of one of the trains to tip over onto another track and hit a passenger train.

There were no fatalities, but train drivers Vikas Kumar and Himanshu Kumar were injured, the official said.

A doctor at Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital said Vikas Kumar sustained head injuries and Himanshu Kumar sustained back injuries.

They have been referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala, the doctor added.
