Driver dies in semi-trailer accident on US 131

KENT COUNTY, Michigan – Just before midnight, a tractor-trailer driver died in an accident on U.S. 131.

At 11:50 p.m. Friday, Michigan State Police in Grand Rapids responded to a crash report on U.S. 131 south of 10 Mile Road near Rockford. The investigation revealed that a 51-year-old Mesick-area man was driving a semi-truck southbound on 131 south of 10 Mile when the truck left the road and entered a heavily wooded area on the median.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Police said the cause of the accident is currently unknown. Alcohol is not believed to have played a role in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the MSP Grand Rapids Post.
