MANILA – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday revoked the license of the driver involved in an incident of driving aggression in Makati City on Tuesday afternoon.

The LTO said in a statement that Gerrard Raymund Yu’s driver’s license was provisionally suspended for 90 days pending the outcome of the administrative complaint filed against him.

“The LTO has begun revoking the license of the driver of the black Mercedes Benz involved in a fatal shooting in Makati City,” the LTO said.

Yu is facing administrative charges for reckless driving under Section 48 and unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle under Section 27(a) of Republic Act (RA) 4136.

According to police reports, Yu shot at the vehicle of 65-year-old Aniceto Mateo on the southbound lane of the Edsa Ayala Tunnel at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, following a traffic stop.

Yu was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Pasig City on Wednesday.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II, however, said the registered owner of the black Mercedes Benz would also be asked to explain why Yu was driving the car.

Both the registered owner of the car and Yu would also have to explain the two different license plates that were seized when the aggressive driver was arrested, Mendoza added.

“This is all part of due process. What is important is that it is a strong signal that the PNP and the LTO are working together to combat this type of crime,” Mendoza said.PM
