WDAM 7 Morning Commute for Thursday, May 30

PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) – Drivers in the Pine Belt face a new obstacle on I-59 as long-running paving projects continue.

On Thursday morning, commuters on I-59 between the Bouie River Bridge and the Evelyn Gandy Parkway (EX 69) will begin the transition to two-way traffic (northbound and southbound on the same side). In addition, lanes on the north and south sides of the interstate will be closed in the area surrounding the affected section.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation estimates the disaster will last about six weeks. Oversized loads will not be allowed on that stretch of interstate during that time.

WDAM would also like to remind drivers that the Click-It-Or-Ticket campaign is underway.

  • ROAD WORK: Pearl River Bridge on US 98 in Columbia
• Perry County
  • ROAD WORK: MS 42 between Corinth Church Road and Pumping Station Road
