Crawford attended Cass High School, where he was on the football team as a freshman and participated in the international studies magnet program.

“He was a true joy to have around,” said CHS counselor Andrew Griffin. “He was a true asset and blessing to our school.”

Channel 2’s Audrey Washington was at the church on Monday, where she spoke with Brandon’s football coach, Steve Gates.

“Brandon Crawford was the kid who ran from the main building to the sports center every day because he loved it,” said coach Steve Gates. “His teammates just loved him for his dedication to learning football and doing everything right on and off the field. He left us with four A’s in all four of his subjects. He was the perfect colonel.”

Gates said Crawford will be terribly missed.

“He loved football,” Gates said. “He loved being with his teammates. I wish there were more B-Crawfords (in the world), as we called him.”
