56-year-old man arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON — A 56-year-old man was arrested by Bloomington police Tuesday after a man was found shot to death in a parking lot.

According to Bloomington police, officers were dispatched to a parking lot in the 2100 block of S. Liberty Drive around 6:20 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the property. Police said he died and appeared to have a gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators began examining the area and discovered a pickup truck nearby with what appeared to be a bullet hole in its windshield.

Officers made contact with the man in the van. After a short conversation, the officers arrested the 56-year-old for further questioning.

The man is currently in the Monroe County Jail and is being held on murder charges.
