“The fire control room received a call about the fire on the pitch at around 4.30 pm. Fire engines and ambulances rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The fire caused the collapse of the building and the debris is being cleared. So far, we have reported 16 fatalities,” said Rajkot Collector Prabhav Joshi.

After the fire broke out, Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargav told reporters that the cause of the fire was under investigation and that notices had been issued to all gambling zones in the city to stop their operations.
