ABC-7 First alarm: strong winds and dust

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – Good morning and happy Saturday.

Today, due to strong winds, the first warning at level ABC-7 applies to us.

Wind gusts of 40-45 mph are expected, peaking in the border region between 2 and 7 p.m. There is a risk of dust and sand being kicked up.

Warm, dry and windy conditions prevail, leading to critical to extremely critical fire conditions.

Burning outdoors is strongly discouraged.

On Sunday the wind will ease but temperatures will rise.

The forecast remains dry for the entire period.
