Houston Astros Ace Leaves Start of Rehab With Apparent Injury

The Houston Astros received some bad news Friday night.

Astro starter Jose Urquidy left his rehab start with a trainer Friday night after throwing 56 pitches. According to The Athletic, he was seen flexing his hand and fingers in what the team is now calling right forearm discomfort.

Urquidy was recovering from a right forearm injury, these types of injuries can lead to Tommy John surgery, which Urquidy was initially able to avoid.

It is unknown how Urquidy will react, nor the severity of the new injury.

The Astros have struggled to keep their rotation healthy and bringing Urquidy back into the rotation would have provided immediate relief to a unit in need of help.

Now, Houston will have to continue operating as before and hope that Urquidy’s injury is not serious and continue to wait for other starters such as Lance McCullers Jr. and Luis Garcia to recover from their injuries.
