Kelly Rowland explains why she was upset on the red carpet of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday. In an interview with The Associated PressShe attributed her confrontation with a security guard to a border crossing.

“The woman knows what happened. I know what happened. And I have boundaries, and I stand by those boundaries, and that’s all,” she explained. “There were other women on that carpet who didn’t look quite like me, and they weren’t verbally abused, pushed down, or told to get off.”

“I made my point and she felt like she had to make her point, but I made my point and that was it,” she concluded.

For the uninitiated, Kelly showed up at the festival to attend the premiere of Marcello Mio. As she walked up the steps of the Palais des Festivals, a security guard who was pushing her into the theater stepped on her dress, to which she said, “Don’t worry.” However, a moment later, Kelly seemed upset, although it’s not clear what the reason was.

“Don’t talk to me like that. Don’t talk to me like that,” Kelly told the woman, according to a lip-reading expert who Page Six“You’re not my mother. I told you not to talk to me like that.”
