Eau Claire man charged after police say he sexually assaulted a girl in a portable toilet downtown | Crime and courts

Charges were filed Wednesday against the man arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a child in a public restroom.

EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) – The man arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a child in a public restroom was charged Wednesday.

Ray Jackson, who is considered homeless, is now charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child under 16, child enticement and kidnapping.

According to court documents filed Wednesday, police were called to a restroom near the Forest Street Community Garden after reports a man was trying to persuade a girl to come. When they arrived, they found Jackson there with a 14-year-old girl.

The victim told police Jackson followed her after she left the Dollar General store on Madison Street. He sat next to her on a nearby bench and asked her for sex by typing on his cell phone because he is hard of hearing. She said no, but told police he grabbed her by the wrist and dragged her into the bathroom. She said he sexually abused her there.

Jackson appeared via video on Wednesday but will make his first appearance on Thursday when a sign language interpreter can be present.
