UF freshman Michai Boireau was cited in a traffic accident

First-year defensive lineman from Florida Michai Boireau was arrested over the weekend in Monroe County, Georgia, on charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle causing serious injury, as first reported by Steve Reece of the Monroe County Reporter. Boireau was arrested, spent two nights in the Monroe County Jail and is now back in Gainesville, Swamp247 has confirmed.

According to the sheriff’s report, Boireau struck another driver in his 2018 BMW on I-75 on Saturday, May 18, while fleeing from Monroe County officers. According to the report, Boireau was driven at a speed of 150 miles per hour before his arrest. An inspection by Cp. According to the report, Larry Sullivan disclosed that Boireau had an unknown amount of marijuana in his vehicle.

Boireau, who is 6’2″ and weighs 362 pounds, was released on $60,000 bail on Monday, according to the report.

After initially withdrawing his commitment to Florida at the beginning of the recruiting process, Boireau decided to recommit to the Gators in the summer rather than finalist Georgia.

“When I came back I thought it was going to be a little embarrassing, but no, it wasn’t embarrassing at all,” Boireau told Swamp247 after his second engagement in Florida. “Actually, it was like I never left. Everyone was excited to see me and I was excited to see them. I was excited to be here and honestly it all felt like I never left.”

Boireau was one of the program’s first participants and was praised for his initial development in Gainesville. Teammates said he would benefit from an early start at UF.

“I always tell Michai and D’Antre to focus on everything, take everything in and don’t take anything for granted. Learn your plays first and then when you go out there, take advantage of those reps because when I was younger I didn’t get the reps,” the defensive player said Caleb Banks said during spring camp, “So I would tell them, ‘You’re at a higher level and you’re getting the reps, so you need to take advantage of that and get ready for fall camp’.”

However, they emphasized that Boireau’s development was already evident during his short time at UF and that he is a veteran in the defensive line room. Cam Jacksonpraised Boireau, saying he was arguably the most impressive freshman defensive line he had seen during his college career.

“Michai is making great progress. I love playing with him and going out with him every day. He’s a really good kid, a coachable kid,” Jackson said of Boireau. “He comes out every day to work. He’s just with me and I coach him because I’m a senior and he’s a freshman. He’s one of the freshmen I’ve never seen. So I’m really ready to see him this season.”

There was no comment regarding Boireau from a UF spokesperson at the time of publication, but Swamp247 learned that UF head coach Billy Napier is aware of Boireau’s current legal status.
