RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead in the woods late Monday morning.

At 11:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a deceased person in the 3700 block of Camley Avenue near Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh. When officers arrived, they found a dead woman.

Officers later announced that the woman was found in the woods along Camley Avenue and not in a home.

Officials added that the woman probably didn’t live on that street either.

Shortly after 5:10 p.m., the Wake County Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s death was being investigated as a homicide.

On Monday evening, officials said they had determined the woman’s identity but her name would not be released until family members had been notified.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call the Wake County Sheriff’s Office at 919-856-6911.
