HISD parents protest after firing of Crockett Elementary School principal

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Based on comments and posts CW39 has seen online, Crockett Elementary School Principal Dr. Vale was fired a few days ago without probable cause.

This is not the first set of concerns for the Crockett Elementary School community. Staff allege that during an emergency school staff meeting, Dr. Vale read a script stating that she was being fired. Staff also allege that higher-ups were in the room during the statement but refused to answer questions from teachers and staff.

This news comes shortly after we learned that a wave of job cuts was gripping the district, in part due to the district’s need to close a $450,000,000 budget deficit. In the hope that their voices will be heard, parents and staff came together yesterday to make signs to use at this morning’s protest. In a statement on Facebook, the Crockett community said, “Right now we need to come together as a community of parents and support our school. We ask that you keep your children home Monday to protest the shootings.

Parents said the protest would begin at 7:20 a.m. outside campus during morning drop-off. Tune in to CW39 Houston this morning at 7 and 8 for LIVE updates.
