First weather alert: Sunday evening update | Weather

A pleasant week heading to the coast as temperatures return to near to slightly above average levels after a period of cooler weather. Some rain will cause problems until midweek.

Tonight we’re looking at clear skies after a dreary Mother’s Day here on the coast. Some areas received more than an inch of rain after thunderstorms moved through in the afternoon hours. When the sky clears, temperatures drop to as low as 40°C. It’s a good idea to have a light jacket on hand on Monday morning.

Monday will be quite pleasant overall with temperatures rising to the low to mid 70s inland and mid 60s on the beaches. Sunshine is expected throughout the day on Monday.

Clouds will return to the region on Tuesday afternoon, but sunshine is expected early. Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s. A few showers are expected to occur in Delmarva Tuesday evening. These showers will intensify overnight.

Heavy rain returns

There could be another chance of heavy rain in Delmarva during the week due to a low pressure system there.

The heaviest rain is expected on Wednesday as a low pressure system moves through. There will likely be two showers on Wednesday, one in the early morning and another in the afternoon hours. Rainfall totals could approach an inch on Wednesday.

The weather returns to drier conditions in the second half of the week, before rain could return to the coast next weekend. For your complete First Alert weather forecast, be sure to watch CoastTV News at 11 a.m.
