Tennis pro Novak Djokovic falls to the ground after a freak accident involving a metal water bottle at the Italian Open

Tennis professional Novak Djokovic had an unexpected mistake after his first-round match at the Italian Open.

After his victory over the French player Corentin Moutet On Friday, May 10, Djokovic was signing autographs in the crowd when he was hit in the head by a flying water bottle, which ultimately knocked him to the ground.

In videos of the freak accident, people hit their heads with their hands and kneel on the floor in pain.

Although some online viewers initially thought the water bottle had been thrown in Djokovic’s way, it was later confirmed that it had fallen out of someone’s bag and accidentally hit the tennis phenom.

“Well, I’m relieved to hear it was a coincidence. Thank God,” one person wrote on X after seeing the clip.

Even though the incident was an accident, fans online were still angry over the video as Djokovic clearly could have been seriously injured. Some people also began to question why large backpacks were allowed into stadiums at all.

“People generally need to relax with the giant backpacks,” one person wrote. “How much stuff do you need to watch a tennis match?”

“Oh my God. Just ban water bottles from the stadium. We have to protect our goat!” someone else complained.

Luckily, Djokovic seems to be doing quite well. He offered an update about Xwriting: “Thank you for the worrying news. This was an accident and I’m fine resting in the hotel with an ice pack. See you all on Sunday.”

He even managed to make light of the situation by showing up at Forto Italico to sign more autographs for fans – this time with a bike helmet on his head.

“Today I was prepared,” he wrote

“You are the best. Never change,” one of his fans gushed, while another person called the moment truly “iconic.”
