Man arrested after incident on Tuesday in East Emporia, now charged

One person has been charged in connection with an incident in East Emporia Tuesday morning.

Emanul Cornejo was charged with aggravated assault and intentional grievous bodily harm or disfigurement, and a further aggravated assault offense of negligently causing grievous bodily harm or disfigurement. Cornejo is also charged with criminal trespass and criminal damage.

Emporia police are not releasing details about the case, but Lyons District Attorney Marc Goodman says the charges are related to Tuesday’s incident in the 700 block of Sylvan, which led to the arrest of Cornejo and the transport of another man Suspected serious injuries led to Newman Regional Health.

Cornejo’s first court appearance in Lyon District Court is Monday.
