Recall alert: Porsche Cayenne – Kelley Blue Book

Porsche has issued a recall for 2,475 2024 model year Cayenne SUVs because the upper left control arms on the front axle can break, causing a loss of steering control. The company believes only nine vehicles could be affected, but cannot say exactly which vehicles they are. To be sure, the company plans to repair every Cayenne built within a certain time period.

Porsche told U.S. auto safety regulators that a supplier may have delivered nine parts that “did not meet specifications” and that factory workers unknowingly installed them. They “could break under high dynamic loads.”

The company says the problem is theoretical – there have been no reports of broken wishbones. However, it has heard of a forging error at a supplier’s factory. Porsche plans to replace the parts to prevent a problem.

Dealers will replace the front axle upper left control arm on every Cayenne built during the suspected period to ensure that the potentially faulty parts are removed from the road.

By law, repairs as part of a recall campaign are always free of charge.

Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the net. This leaves millions of Americans driving cars with safety defects that they could have fixed for free. Find out if your car has any unanswered recalls at our Recall Center.
