Detectives investigate fatal accident; identity of victim announced

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way on Saturday, July 20, 2024. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Yanique Tyshay Jones and a GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to raise money for her young son’s future.

According to MCPD, “Officers from the 6th Precinct and Montgomery County Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 2:16 a.m. after a two-vehicle crash was reported.

Detectives’ investigation revealed that a blue 2019 Kia Stinger was traveling northbound on Goshen Road when it collided with a white 2021 Hyundai Venue traveling southbound on Goshen Road near Rock Elm Way.

The driver of the Hyundai was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Yanique Tyshay Jones of Rockville. The driver of the Kia was taken to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
