WHO global research priorities for sexually transmitted infections

overview

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are widespread worldwide and affect sexual and reproductive health. Gaps in evidence and available tools make STI prevention, control and treatment difficult, particularly in resource-poor settings.

WHO has conducted a global research prioritization to identify the most important STI research areas that meet public health needs. This document summarizes the resulting STI research priorities and calls for action to reduce the global burden of STIs and to drive investment and innovation.
