JACKSON COUNTY, Mississippi (WKRG) – Motorists on I-10 in Jackson County on Wednesday witnessed what the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation called “an alleged incident of road rage.”

A video taken by Mobile couple Bill and Jaclyn Robinson, owners of the Mo’Bay Beignet Company, shows an injured man fleeing after an accident on I-10 while two other people chase after him, one of them with a gun in his hand.

Another video showed a gray sedan driving into a ditch between the east and west lanes.

“I was actually sitting in the passenger seat checking some emails on my phone when my husband got my attention and said, ‘Get your phone, start filming, look at this,'” Jaclyn Robinson recalled. “I immediately put my phone in camera mode, started filming and we didn’t know what we were seeing. We just knew it was serious, especially when we saw the guy in the red shirt running with the gun and he was dodging cars on the eastbound interstate to get to the other guy.”

The Robinsons were passing through Ocean Springs on their way to New Orleans and were traveling west on the interstate when they encountered slow-moving traffic and swerving vehicles shortly before 4 p.m.

“I saw a commotion ahead of me, people slamming on their brakes in their cars, and I thought maybe there was a traffic backup. As we got closer, I saw there were a couple of cars in the median. We slowed down, I almost stopped,” explained Bill Robinson. “And then all of a sudden I heard a couple of guys running in the median first, and I said to my wife, ‘They’re running. What are they from? I don’t know what they’re running from.’ And then all of a sudden I heard gunshots.”

According to MBI officials, one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and two people were taken into custody.

Officials with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said their officers arrested two people and at least one person will face charges. The victim is expected to be OK.

This is an ongoing investigation.
